Malaysia Boleh...Ayah Pin

This I read and found quite interesting..so I copy & paste all to read...

FOLLOWERS OF THE 'TEAPOT TEMPLE' They believe water from this teapot can cure the ill
We uncover an unusual religious sect in Terengganu, once held by Islamic party PAS
By Josephine Chew
DEEP in what was once an Islamic stronghold lies an eye-popping commune.
The followers of the Ayah Pin religion have built a colourful mini-village dominated by this two-storey-high teapot.
Like a slice of Disneyland in the Terengganu heartland, the teapot which was built last year, stands alongside a giant umbrella, a giant vase, a giant crescent and a sampan - all in clashing hues of hot pink, bright yellow and royal blue.
Kampung Batu 13, home of the giant crockery, is in Ulu Besut, just a stone's throw away from Kelantan.
A little dirt road that seemed to head into the jungle, was marked by only a small sign.
I entered cautiously.
There had been a flurry of advice when locals heard I was heading there.
'Be careful. The last time a reporter went there, he was chased out with parangs.'
'They'll cast a spell on you and won't let you leave.'
'Don't take any of the water and food - you'll become Ayah Pin's next wife.'
A place of myth and magic for the locals, it seems.
NO ENTRY
Kak Bidah, a fruit seller at a nearby village who gave directions to the little lane, said: 'They don't bother us, we don't bother them.
'We don't even know what they do there. But they're not from around here, they're all outsiders and I think they're quite rich.'
A massive iron gate with a sign saying No Entry Without Permission looked ominous. But it was easy getting in.
A short holler, and a resident just waved me in.
But the 60 believers who live there were suspicious at first, especially since the head of the group, Ayah Pin, wasn't at home that day.
The New Paper on Sunday caught up with him in Kuala Lumpur the next day.
The group was wary of reporters as it has been plagued by allegations of cultism.
At least four Malays in the group have renounced Islam, and have been jailed for this.
But after I'd spent some time at one of the more than 20 kampung houses on site, residents warmed up and answered questions cheerfully.
Do they still consider themselves Muslim?
The answers were mixed.
'Because we're Malay we have to be Muslim. But we transcend religions because there are many routes to the one God who made us all,' said Mr Mohd Yusof Hussein, 45, who has lived there for four years.
'I don't pray five times a day, I don't believe in going to Mecca. Does that mean I'm not Muslim?
'But I'm very religious and I believe in God.
'And people of different religions come to listen to Ayah Pin as well.'
The hotch-potch is reflected in the architecture.
Right alongside the beautifully-made, modern concrete community structures were over 20 shabby, wooden kampung houses.
Ayah Pin lives in a tiny kampung house all by himself, while his four wives and 21 children live in separate houses nearby.
The reach of his teachings could be seen from cars, with plates from Johor, Perak and Terengganu.
Apparently, followers who want to live on the compound can build their own houses.
But rising above all is the giant teapot.
What's it for? The standard reply was: 'If you have to ask, it means you wouldn't understand anyway.'
The RM40,000 ($18,000) teapot was conceived by a 'divinely inspired' member of the group who has since died.
Detailed plans were drawn up by another before it was built in gotong-royong (co-operative) style over four months last year. It was finished in November.
It's a proper teapot, with 'special water'.
The 300 sick people who throng to the compound every weekend to seek Ayah Pin's help either drink or bathe under the water which comes from a nearby well.
TEA-ROOM
When the vase that dispenses water from its taps runs low, the pipe valve in the teapot's spout automatically pours water into the vase.
And it doubles up as a meeting room as well, because there's a room inside the teapot.
The latest structure, which was finished in February, is the three-storey umbrella structure. It has a room inside as well.
Costing roughly RM70,000, it was also built by the faithful, using materials paid for by donors.
The place even has its own coffeeshop.
During my visit, several merchants, and the electricity and telephone bill man wandered in and out of the compound freely, if somewhat uncomfortably.
And followers were quick to point out that while they advocate an alternative lifestyle, they were very much a part of mainstream life.
'All our children go to the nearby government school at Bukit Payung secondary and primary school.
'And when we're sick we go to the government hospital,' said Ayah Pin's third wife, Madam Ruzila Makhar, 40.
'Most followers work, earn money and pay taxes too. We're really not as abnormal as everyone makes us out to be.'
Squabble over land ownership
THERE's a struggle for Terengganu's little Disneyland, and it's about land.
The head of the group, Ayah Pin, and his first wife moved to the site 25 years ago.
The land is still owned by his first wife, Che Minah Ramly, 58.
It was then dense jungle land that was allocated as agricultural land for fruit trees and the like.
But when the group expanded and started building the surreal structures from 1996 onwards, the Terengganu government started taking an active interest.
ORDERED TO BE TORN DOWN
In 2000, the land office issued orders for the buildings to be torn down as they contravened the national land code for the use of agricultural land.
However, the order was quashed in 2002 by the Kuala Terengganu high court after the group filed a protest.
The group filed to convert the land from agricultural to built-up land, which was rejected in March this year.
Said lawyer Haris Mohd Ibrahim who acts for the group pro bono: 'I find it very curious that this one kampung has been singled out with a strict insistence on the National Land Code.
'Virtually every kampung in this country doesn't comply to it.
'So unless there's a move to implement and apply this code strictly throughout the country, it will be a battle I will continue helping them fight.'
He also clarified that he is a Muslim who is not a follower of Ayah Pin.
'They could be worshipping the devil - which they are not by the way - but they still have a human right to exist if they follow the laws of the land. That's why I spend my time helping them out.'
He's the leader with 4 wives
His ideas are out of this world
HE supreme head of this group, Ayah Pin, believes he is God Tincarnate. 'I'm omnipresent and omnipotent. I was once Jesus, and have been reincarnated since the beginning of time into the vessel of a human body.
'This is my last human incarnation, so when this body dies, it'll be the end of the earthly world, and time for my government in the sky.'
The Malay-speaking religious leader Ayah Pin made such outlandish statements during the interview with The New Paper on Sunday recently.
Born Ariffin Muhamad in a small village in Kelantan 61 years ago, he had just returned from a four-day trip to Bali, where followers said he was honoured as head priest of a Hindu group there.
He has more than 1,000 followers and they are far from being limited to the borders of Terengganu.
It was quite a sight to watch videos of Hindu priests washing his feet, and bowing in respect to him - not just in Bali, but at Batu Caves and at a nearby Hindu temple at Setapak as well.
The eight followers who were present during the interview also said that at least nine Singaporean businessman have come to seek his help for the success of their business while they were in Johor last year.
And it's not as if his followers are redneck hicks, because many are cosmopolitans who have spent time overseas.
Among them are civil servants, successful businessmen and even musicians with Anugerah Muzik Industri (the Malaysian Grammys) awards.
Still, it was bizarre meeting the man claiming to be God at a follower's shophouse at Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, on Wednesday.
But though I was surrounded by many of his followers, I did not feel threatened.
He was a perfectly charming and genial old man, with piercing brown eyes.
Even when it was obvious that I was finding many of the claims difficult to process, he didn't seem to mind.
'You'll understand in time. There are many different levels of understanding. There's no rush,' he said.
HUMAN VICES
But he was also very human, with human vices, like puffing away on cigarettes while waving the thick gold chain on his right wrist.
He has also had six wives and 21 children.
His first wife, Che Minah Ramly, 58, owns the land they occupy in Terengganu.
One has died, the other he divorced, leaving him with four wives in his current stable.
'I'm not Muslim, the different religions are just a means to the one God. And I'm over and above all the religions.
'But don't get me wrong, all religions are good because they help a person find the truth,' he said.
'But it's easier to not have one particular religion because the different structures and practices may impede your search.'
When asked whether he thought he was human, the answer was a firm no.
But was he subject to human failings, like anger? Or lust?
'Put it this way, even if I do wrong, I'm above it all. So it becomes right anyway,' he said after much prodding.
JAILED ONCE
The 61-year-old native Kelantanese said he had a revelation at the age of 10 that his body had been chosen as a vessel for God.
In a strange parallel to the life of the Christian saviour, Jesus, he only started his religious leadership at the age of 29 or 30, after years of fasting and praying in the wild.
For his unorthodox teaching, he has been put in jail by the Malaysian authorities.
His 11-month imprisonment at the Pengkalan Chepa jail in Kelantan ended in March 2002, and his influence seems to have continued expanding even then.
However, he claims that his imprisonment was illegal as having declared that he is not Muslim, the Syariah court does not have jurisdiction over him.
He continues to live mostly at his Kampung Batu 13 home and has an open house for suppliants seeking aid from Saturday to Sunday night.
So why are the seemingly random building shapes in his compound in Terengganu the way they are?
'Don't ask me why.
'It is just a mirror of the way it is in the government in the sky.
'I can't lie because once you go up yourself, you'll know if the plans are wrong.
'So things are the way they are just because, you can't explain it logically,' was his unhelpful explanation.
NO PROBLEMS WITH MONEY
The religious leader, who doesn't work, couldn't explain why he seemed to have an endless supply of money either.
'I don't know where it comes from. Sometimes if I tap my pockets, I suddenly have money. Anyway, my followers handle the money, not me,' he said.
At this juncture, the KL section head piped in saying that Ayah Pin had never asked him for money, ever, and if anything, it was him who has received money from Ayah Pin.
It was a surreal world indeed, as very intelligent, well-dressed followers entered in complete suppliance on their knees to greet him, and hung on his every word.
Perhaps the most disturbing part was when he said the world would end after his death.
But don't worry, he clarified. He still has a lot of work to do. And with our increasing lifespan, we have at least 20 more years to enjoy.
HIS FOLLOWERS
ONE of Ayah Pin's most fervent believers is Mr Kamarul Zaman, 37, who played host to me.
Suspicious at first, he ended up revealing how he once belonged to the banned Al-Arqam cult in Kuala Lumpur.
Despite earning RM6,000 ($2,700) a month as a successful graphic artist, the civil engineering graduate felt unhappy.
'But it's only now that I've found contentment and peace... it's about openness to all religions, all races, all peoples, while still integrating with the earthly world - we send the kids to government schools, and we follow the laws.'
But the beliefs are unorthodox.
Like how all religions have equal access to God, keeping God in mind is more important than praying or going to Mecca.
Holy books like the Quran and Bible are not regarded as the ultimate source of truth.
Madam Mary Pereira, a 51-year-old Catholic telemarketer was introduced to Ayah Pin by a Hindu friend.
'Honestly, it was a big struggle to accept him at first because it sounded so crazy. But now I really do believe he is the human vessel of God, of Jesus.
'I've had some love disappointments in the past... I've always had a bad temper and been a control freak. But I'm slowly getting better now.'
She says she is still Catholic and doesn't see her faith in Ayah Pin as a contradiction.
Her mother, however, disapproves. So does Mr Kamarul's mother.
He said: 'But I'm not sad because I know I've found the right road. Hopefully she will too.'

Challenge may split Wanita: Rafidah

HONGKONG: Datuk Dr Siti Zaharah Sulaiman's challenge for Wanita Umno's top post may split the movement, said incumbent Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz.

The Paya Besar MP is making a bid to unseat Rafidah, who is the international trade and industry minister, in the party elections in September

Rafidah said the challenge by the former national unity and social development minister will only recreate old problems.

"I do not know what is her motive. But many will agree if I say that in the aftermath of the contest which she (Siti Zaharah) had won, problems cropped out," Rafidah who is leading a Malaysian trade mission here told Bernama.

‘Umno Sdn Bhd’ culture ruining party: Rahim
Yoon Szu-Mae(MalaysiaKini)

Former Malacca chief minister Rahim Tamby Chik has attributed his defeat as Umno Kota Melaka divisional head during the ongoing divisional polls to rampant money politics within the party, alleging candidates were asked to pay up to RM1,000 for a vote.

Rahim, who lost to incumbent Amid Mordin in Sunday’s elections, said the reason behind his defeat was his refusal to pay for votes. Rahim garnered 126 votes to Amid’s 235.

At a press conference today, Rahim said he expected his revelation to be unpopular with many Umno members. He said he was raising the issue now as he had experienced first-hand being ‘victimised’ by Umno’s money culture.

Rahim also said several leaders within Umno are openly known to use the party to gain preferential access to state land titles, government projects and lucrative contracts.
Among the preferential awards given to Umno leaders and individuals linked to them include titles to over 200 acres of land including at the seafront, 30 taxi permits and a 15-year road maintenance concession worth RM2 million, Rahim alleged, adding Kota Melaka Umno members are openly aware of these awards.

“Those leaders who have enjoyed these ‘privileges’ will continue to fight tooth and nail to defend their positions within Umno, regardless of the price they have to pay. To them, Umno is just ‘Umno Sdn Bhd’, an opportunity to gain more privileges,” he said.

Barking at the wrong tree

Pickup this story inside Malay Mail report on murder of Darren Kang, a student died after attack in front of a restaurant.

Another said fights and brawls were common in the Desa Sri Hartamas area.

Youngsters usually would converge at the restaurants after partying the night at several discotheques in the area.

"Most of them would be drunk and brawls and fights would start at the slightest provocation,” said a businessman.

“The only way to combat this menace is for the police to make their presence felt in the area.”

Malek to be sworn in as Court of Appeal president
PUTRAJAYA, July 07:(NST)
Federal Court judge Datuk Abdul Malek Ahmad, one of the country’s most respected judges, will be sworn in as the Court of Appeal president on Monday.

The decision to appoint Abdul Malek is seen by many, including lawyers, as a move by the Government to restore the image and integrity of the Judiciary.

He is known by the Bar to be a hard-working man who delivers his judgments fast.

He also has an impeccable reputation as a jurist.

Among the important cases he dealt with as Federal Court judge was the RM100 million defamation suit by former Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim against former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in 1999.

Abdul Malek was also on the Federal Court panel which ruled as unlawful the 60-day detention order by the police against five Opposition leaders and activists under the Internal Security Act.

The appellants were Keadilan Youth chief Mohamad Ezam Mohd Noor, its national vice-president, Chua Tian Chang a.k.a. Tian Chua, Reformasi activist Hishammudin Rais, former Jemaah Islamiyah Malaysia president Saari Sungib and "Free Anwar" campaign director Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin.

Is there lights at the end of the tunnel?...god knows.

Democracy...Their Way

Susilo Bambang Takes Lead In Presidential Polls

From Openg Onn

JAKARTA, July 6 (Bernama) -- Popular ex-military general Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is maintaining his lead to become President of Indonesia as counting continues following Monday's polling in the landmark direct presidential election.

Bambang, who contested under the Democratic Party took the lead soon as the National Tabulation Centre, set up at a local hotel here, received the first results from counting centres all over the country at 6pm. (7pm Malaysian Standard Time), Monday.

By midday Tuesday, (1 pm Malaysian Standard Time), he and his running mate Yusuf Kalla had garnered 5,244,492 votes or 33.31 percent of the votes counted so far with incumbent President Megawati Sukarnoputri and her duet Hasyim Muzadi, in second spot with 4,163,090 votes (26.44 percent).

Another former general and ex-military chief, Wiranto, of Golkar Party, and his running mate Solahuddin Wahid, are close behind with 3,655,704 votes (23.20 percent).

A popular reform figure, Amien Rais, leader of the National Mandate Party and his partner Siswono Yudhohusodo, came in fourth, with 2,585,190 votes (13.71 percent).

Vice President Hamzah Haz, head of the United Development Party pairing with another ex-general Agum Gumelar, are in last spot with a dismal 526,322 votes or just 3.34 per cent.

Bambang's popularity conforms a survey last week which gave him a 43.5 percent support, more than that of his four rivals combined.

But he needs more than 50 per cent of the vote to avoid a runoff between the top two candidates, scheduled for Sept 20.

While counting in most of the centres had been completed, the Election Commission (KPU) is struggling to hold balloting at dozens of centres which had to be delayed due to bad weather and increased volcanic activity.

Polling in two island villages in West Sumatra and eight in North Sumatra, had to be postponed when ballot papers and other election materials failed to reach their polling centers because of rough seas.

KPU chairman Nazaruddin Syamsuddin could not say when voting in those villages would be carried out as it depended on the weather.

In East Nusa Tenggara, polling had to be deferred indefinitely in two villages near Mount Egon, when hundreds of voters were forced to flee their homes after increased volcanic activity.

Sewaktu PEMILU pasca reformasi,bermacam-macam keganasan timbul hinggakan presidennya bersilih ganti tapi lihatlah setelah hampir 7 tahun selepas era reformasi, PEMILU kali ini jelas meriah sekali. Pemilihan Presidennya jelas memberi peluang kepada marhaennya memilih yg terbaik(banyak pilihan pulak tu).Saya percaya, give them 20 more years and they will beat Malaya economically and politically.

Azimi tarik diri, Puteri sengit

In Umno, when U challenge the leader it is considered as memecah belahkan parti.
Oleh itu,to challenge the incubent even at branch level pun, risikonya amat tinggi sekali.

Berbalik kepada berita diatas, maka amatlah difahami mengapa semua calun cabut lari bila dengar nama KJ saje...waa,ini menantu manya hebat loo..

Microsoft to help bring ICT to schools

PUTRAJAYA(the star): The Education Ministry has embarked on a partnership with software giant Microsoft to increase access to information and communication technology (ICT) in Malaysian schools.

Under the “Partners in Education” programme, Microsoft will invest RM10mil over a five-year period to provide technology skills training to pre-service and in-service teachers, assist in curriculum development and bring ICT to all schools.

The joint initiative was sealed yesterday at a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing between Microsoft chairman and chief software architect Bill Gates and Education Minister Datuk Hishammuddin Tun Hussein at Sekolah Alam Shah here.

Microsoft chief attempts to stem Linux tide
By Leslie Lau

KUALA LUMPUR (StraitTimes)- In the battle between Microsoft and freely available 'open-source' software such as Linux, it pays to bring out the big guns. And in the world of computer software and operating systems, there is no bigger gun than Microsoft chairman Bill Gates.

He made a whirlwind stop in Malaysia yesterday to charm politicians, encourage students and address technology professionals.

And in announcing a partnership programme to provide Malaysian schools with Microsoft software training programmes, he was also trying to stem the Linux tide.

Asian governments have been moving towards the freely available Linux operating system in a bid to cut costs and address security concerns.

Countries like Malaysia and Thailand subsidise low-cost computers and some of these run on Linux operating systems. Linux is also being considered for use in many Malaysian government applications because it is cheaper.

Linux is important to Malaysia because of the country's aim to develop a homegrown software industry.

To counter the growing popularity of Linux in the region, Mr Gates said Microsoft may offer a cheaper version of its Windows operating system. He said Microsoft will talk to governments 'about which version of Windows will make sense to them' when governments make low-cost computers available.

eerr...ni kira rasuah ke tidak?.It seems that Mr.B doesn't care about MSC at all but by the way, what is the status of our MSC? any new update.

Terkuburnya majalah Massa

Thursday, June 24 @ 11:19:27 MYT (Harakahdaily)

Massa 13 – 19 Mac 2004.

“Dato' Dr Mashitah Ibrahim bukan ahli politik. Kepimpinan dilihat memilih beliau sebagai calon berdasarkan populariti dirinya.” Massa 13 – 19 Mac 2004.

Mereka tidak diajar “how to think but what to think.”

dah baligh pun.

Pilots who landed at wrong airport

Pilots who landed at wrong airport suspended from flying

EAGAN, Minnesota (AP) - Two pilots at the controls of a Northwest Airlines flight when it landed at the wrong airport have been suspended from flying pending an investigation, an airline spokesman said.

Northwest spokesman Kurt Ebenhoch said Monday that the two pilots "have been held from service'' until the review is complete. No other details were released.

The flight carrying 117 passengers to Rapid City, South Dakota, veered off course Saturday and landed at nearby Ellsworth Air Force Base.

The plane remained on the ground for more than three hours as the pilots told Air Force security officers what went wrong, and a new crew was dispatched to continue the flight to Rapid City.

Air Force Lt. Christine Millette said the pilots reported that they were in contact with Rapid City controllers on their approach when they descended into a cloud. When the plane came out of the cloud, the first runway the pilots saw was the one at Ellsworth.

Millette said the two runways are about 7 miles (11 kilometers) apart and parallel to one another.-AP

I was assaulted, says Umno Youth leader

KOTA TINGGI, June 20:(NST)
An Umno Youth branch chief has lodged a police report after he was assaulted by two party youth members following his election here today.
Zamri Munir, who sustained a black eye and bruises on his cheek, was set upon soon after the results of the Umno Sri Jaya branch election were announced.

The branch is part of the Tenggara Umno division, which is headed by Datuk Halimah Sadique, who is also Johor Wanita chief and a member of the State Executive Council.

Zamri had earlier defeated Rosli Hussin to head the branch Youth wing. His assailants were apparently unhappy at the defeat of Rosli, who was the branch’s previous deputy Youth chief.

The attack took place just as Zamri was leaving the community hall in Kampung Seri Jaya in Jalan Kulai here for refreshments at 5.40pm today.

A police car with several police personnel rushed to the scene to quell further disturbances. Zamri lodged the police report at 6.20pm

This was the second case of violence at an Umno branch meeting in Johor. Two weeks ago, disgruntled members also resorted to throwing chairs during the Parit Benting branch election in Bakri, Muar.

Should have sent all this party members to National Service and learn "What democracy is all about". No wonder this particular party cannot face real democratic process...huru-hara..

Comment & Analysis :: Talking Points - By Ho Kay Tat

Making every ringgit count

....Over the past five years, the government has been spending more than it was earning....

This means it has been relying more and more on borrowed money to keep it going.

....But aside from the amount of money spent, another facet to government spending that ought to receive more attention than it has been getting is the quality of the spending.

Is money being spent on the right things in a most efficient and cost-effective manner?

Are we building something merely for the sake of building so that contractors get their contracts?

This is as important as the amount of money that we pour into projects.

....Sources say that in the hurry to pump-prime the economy, the government had over the past three to four years approved too many projects.

It is understood that there are over 300 letters of intent waiting to be executed.

....While it is good that the government is trying to ensure that money is not spent on unnecessary things, it is equally important for it to take steps to ensure where money has to be spent, it is spent properly.

The Sun so far has proven to be what a newspaper should be.Tell the truth!,expose the filth! so we the malayan could be well informed on what the hell is this govt doing.I wish one day, there will be one Malay newspaper could be like that...good luck uuhh?

Collector's item or catalogue of shame?
Citizen Nades - By R. Nadeswaran
......The Selangor government owns bungalows in various holiday resorts, including Fraser's Hill and Morib. So, it was decided that some refurbishment was needed. Nothing wrong with that except that the AG has noted that the proper procurement procedures were not followed.

Besides, he outlined discrepancies and more importantly, how government officials paid much more than the market prices.

Some examples:
Three 14-inch television sets were purchased for the Sultan Sulaiman bungalow in Fraser's Hill for RM1,400 each;

A 29-inch set was purchased for the same bungalow for RM4,800;

RM6,800 was paid for a locally-made writing table and a chair;

A king-size bed and mattress and dressing table and cupboard were purchased for RM15,800;

Four single beds with mattresses were purchased at RM5,600 each for the same bungalow.

The AG notes that all rooms in the bungalow have built-in cupboards and yet, the officials purchased THREE cupboards for RM5,400.

"One of the cupboards has been placed in a double room resulting in the room becoming congested.

"The other two are being stored in the Sri Selangor Bungalow elsewhere ..." he notes.

If these revelations have surprised you, the AG's observations on construction of the RM45 million aquatic centre in Shah Alam is a catalogue of shame.

From the planning stages to the completion of the centre, the AG has not minced his words on serious shortcomings and failure to adhere to procedures.

He notes that while the community swimming pool in Subang Jaya, built at a cost of RM740,000, is being used without any major problem, the aquatic centre has been plagued with problems -- technical and operational -- from day one.

It was supposed to be completed in time for the Sukma Games in April 1998, but was officially handed over in August -- a delay of four months.

What is more sickening is that the objective of the State Sports Council was to have an international-standard pool, but it was subsequently discovered that it did not meet the specifications.

Hence, no national or international meets can be held there. If the centre was for the use of the community, why splurge such an astronomical sum when the Subang Jaya pool cost only a fraction?

Well, that's not the end of the story. What action has been taken against those who caused the state government so much loss?

<Wow...this is only the tips of an icebergs. It's an open secret that every govt purcase/tender mesti "muck up" tinggi-tinggi..habuan cover undertable nanti..biasale

Oh...Poor Kedahan 2

got updated on the issue from another blogger. It seem that this
DrM really got screw up big time. The Sun internet version had posted a statement by DrM on Jan 12th,1994 quoted "Govt not bound to pay royalty" when asked regarding an increase of honorarium paid to Kedah from RM10K to RM10M.

I smell something fishy here especially when Ku li was already making a statement that he is willing to contest in the coming UMNO election.DrM team (proxy) VS Pak Lah team....waa..panas..panas. YO! Pak Lah,don't forget the one in Sg.Buloh..

Bila Ku Li buka gelanggang..

Ku Li sedia dicalonkan

I thought democracy has been dead in Umno..hasn't it?
go..go..ku li,go...

What Have U Done With My Tax Money?

WEB EDITION :: theSun says

Making local government accountable

THEY spend some RM13 billion a year throughout the country. Their performance affects everyone in the country to some extent or other. They have more power to improve our immediate environment than anybody else. They are the local councils.

Right now, even the largest and those considered to be the best among them fall far short of standards that we expect."

Other examples of abuse abound. A particularly odious example is the recent one involving the Seberang Perai Municipal Council.
It is puzzling why a council should give out a contract for the supply of fresh cut flowers for an amazingly high cost of RM5,750 a week. The cost of the flowers is undoubtedly more than the salary of the council president.

What is equally amazing is the lackadaisical response to questions as to why that RM1.5 million contract was given in the first place.

It took a stake-out by theSun to ascertain that the flowers came from a company in Kuala Lumpur, a company which was not even involved in the flower trade.

The goverment is misusing our tax money macam duit tu mak bapak mereka yang punya and yet people still vote for them...padan muka

IPTA rugi berjuta ringgit akibat vandalisme pelatih PLKN

Pengerusi Majlis Latihan Khidmat Negara (MLKN), Prof. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Fawzi Mohd.

More thrill for smokers..

Customs to go after those who buy smuggled cigarettes
source: the star
BAGAN DATOH (Perak): Cigarettes, which are hazardous to your health, may now also get you into trouble with the law.
Under a new move by the Customs Department to combat the smuggling of cigarettes, smokers could be fined RM100 a pack if they are caught buying the contraband.
As a further deterrent, they would be fined RM2,000 for a second offence and charged in court if they commit the offence for a third time, with a fine and a possible jail term of up to two years.
“If there is no demand, there will be no supply. We are going all out – and serious about it – to curb the smuggling of cigarettes into the country as we are losing about RM1.1bil in unpaid duty every year,” Customs director-general Tan Sri Abdul Halil Abdul Mutalib told reporters after launching the national level Ops Pemutihan at the Ghadaf Marble jetty here on Thursday evening.
He said they would nab smokers of contraband cigarettes to tackle the problem at the source.

I must admit that I am a smoker.During my school years,smoking was
considered cool and macho. The thrilled of not being caughted by Pengawas/warden/cikgu always there. We enjoyed every single puff we got to the last. Now after "U smoke as U want and nobody care",smoking does not give me any thrill anymore. Thank to this new law maybe we, smokers might get(once again) the thrill that we longing for..hurray.

When the smart sultan speak...

Truly independent judiciary vital, says Sultan Azlan Shah
IPOH June 10(utusan online) - The judiciary and law enforcement agencies must be truly independent to enhance their image and dignity, the Sultan of Perak said Thursday.

Sultan Azlan Shah, who was Lord President, said that judicial independence was an essential factor to ensure justice.

He said that the law would not be effective in dispensing justice unless its implementation mechanism was based on procedures that were fair and transparent and administered by judges who were qualified, independent and of high integrity.

"Any shortcomings in the functions of the judiciary will tilt the scale of justice as the judiciary has always been regarded as the true guardian of justice," he said in his speech at the opening of the Sultan Azlan Shah Multaqa and Seminar on 'Independence in the Islamic and Non-Islamic Judicial System' here. The text of his speech was read out by the Raja Muda.
Sultan Azlan Shah said that the erosion of public confidence in the judiciary's independence would ultimately lead to instability and it would certainly take a long time and would be an arduous task to restore it.
The Ruler said that to prevent domination, the doctrine of the separation of power had been enshrined in the constitution whereby the legislature, executive and the judiciary would function as a check and balance mechanism to ensure the well-being of the people and a government administration which fully subscribes to legal principles.

I truly believe that the independency of these three instutions should have been done looooong time ago.uh...now even the sultan also speak, bila lagi? But I bet those morons will never listen to this. Power..who wants to let go maa..

Raise honorarium payment to Kedah

ALOR STAR(the Star): Penang should increase the current RM10,000 honorarium payment to Kedah for the acquisition of the island and Seberang Prai, former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said.He said the current amount, made annually since a century ago, should be increased to reflect modern times and Kedah should pursue this matter with Penang.

On another note Dr Mahathir said that Kedah should ask Penang to pay for the water supply which it gave free of charge to Penang.
Dr Mahathir apologized to Kedahans for not fulfilling all the requests for development projects as he did not want to be biased.
"When I was with the Government I could not help the state too much since it would show that I was biased towards my state," he said.

Dear DrM, U should have highlighted this during your 20 + years of
heading the office...but then again it always politics, right?
Takut orang penang tak sokong hang pulak (mostly Chinese)..La ni hang cakap apa pun dah tak laku dah....

Scientists Demonstrate Teleportation with Atoms
By Patricia Reaney

LONDON (Reuters) - It is not quite the "Beam me up Scotty" teleportation of Star Trek, but teams of scientists said Wednesday they had made properties jump from one atom to another without using any physical link.
Physicists in the United States and Austria for the first time have teleported "quantum states" between separate atoms.
The breakthrough may not yet make it possible for people to disappear and reappear somewhere else, like actors in a science fiction television show. But it could help lead to "quantum computing" technology that would make superfast computers

Guess better sell my PLUS shares now..who need highways in the future...

2 stories and hopely same attention..

Story 1 Malaysians praying for Boehm "The Star" PENANG: Concerned Malaysians are praying that Willi Hans Boehm, who is dying of cancer in Australia, will get a last taste of his beloved durian ice-cream from Penang where he first met his Malaysian wife.
Well-wisher Jalil Yusuf from Kuala Lumpur e-mailed north@thestar.com.my with a message that God would let miracles happen if he wished to.
“By the grace of God, who knows, after taking the durian ice-cream, a new event may take shape. Let us pray the Australian Customs give clearance and the ice-cream reaches you as soon as possible.”
On Sunday, The Star highlighted the love story of Boehm, 86, a former German navy officer who fell in love with Agnes Vaz, 81, a local, during World War II despite strong resistance as he was from the “enemy” camp.
The couple, who got married in Singapore in 1946, used to eat durian ice-cream at Kek Seng coffeeshop in Penang Road and after migrating with their six sons to Australia in 1973, they would go return for the ice-cream whenever they visited Penang.
Boehm is now critically ill in a hospital in Perth and has been given weeks to live. His six sons are searching for a Penang and a German flag to drape over his coffin.
Malaysia Airlines offered to send the Penang flag while the 75-year-old widow of the Kek Seng ice-cream maker Tan Gaik Nooi, 75, made two tubs of durian ice-cream for Boehm although chances of it reaching him are slim because of Australia's strict quarantine controls.

Story 2 Rumah tiga beradik ditinggal ibu musnah

I really hope that we malayan come together on helping whoever in needs.
